Former US President Donald Trump has defended holding a Saudi Arabia-backed golf tournament at his club in New Jersey, stressing that “unfortunately, no one has gotten to the bottom of 9/11,” amid calls from relatives of the victims of the attack to cancel the event.
“Unfortunately, no one has gotten to the bottom of 9/11, and they should have, because maniacs did this horrible thing to our city, our country and the world,” he said. “Nobody has come to that, but I can tell there are great people here and we’re going to have a good time and celebrate,” she added.
“I have known these people for a long time in Saudi Arabia. They have been my friends for a long time. They have invested in many American companies, they own large percentages in many American companies,” he said in statements granted to the ESPN television network.
