On Friday (June 9), the music star dropped “What the Hell Are We Dying For?” He released a new song.
He also revealed the song’s artwork, a photograph of the World Trade Center in New York City, recently consumed by clouds of smoke from the Canadian wildfires.
The image went viral on social media two days ago.
Now, many Canadian Mendes fans are questioning his decision, with some labeling it “ignorant” and “ridiculous.”

Proceeds from the single will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross, prompting many to use a photo of the wildfires in Canada.
