Canceled the billboard in which Amanda Serrano was going to return to the Madison Square Garden ring

The fight in which the Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano was scheduled to face Argentina’s Brenda Carabajal on August 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York was cancelled, the boxer herself confirmed on social media.

“I want to apologize to all of you who have contacted me asking about my fight next week because you bought tickets. Yeah, the show’s cancelled, I was super ready and on point. I’ll let you guys know what’s next. This is boxing, these things happen. I am sorry. I love you all”Serrano wrote on the social network Twitter.

Serrano’s publication came after the promoter Most Valuable Promotions announced on Saturday night the cancellation of the card, which was to be starred by the fight between Jake Paul – Serrano’s promoter – and Hasim Rahman in a maximum weight of 200 pounds.

However, the company published yesterday that Rahman allegedly asked for the fight to go up to a maximum of 215 pounds, which Paul ultimately refused.

“This foregone conclusion shocks Jake Paul, Amanda Serrano and all the fighters at this event who have trained tirelessly for the past few months,” the statement read.

The promoter assured that it will return the money of those who bought tickets and pay-per-view for the billboard, which was going to be broadcast by Showtime.

In the case of Serrano, the fight against Carabajal (18-5 with nine knockouts) marked a mandatory defense of their belts at featherweight. It was expected that after this fight, Serrano would resume his negotiations for a rematch against the Irishwoman. Katie Taylor, with whom he starred in a historic match on April 30, also at the Garden. Taylor won that fight via split decision.

Serrano fell to a record of 42-2 with 30 knockouts after his setback against Taylor, in a historic fight in which the Irishwoman put her four undisputed champion straps at risk in lightweight, to which the Puerto Rican rose to challenge her.
