Zelensky dismisses the ‘number two’ of the National Security Council of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky – PRESIDENCY OF UKRAINE

The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has dismissed this Monday the ‘number two’ of the National Security and Defense Council of the country, Mijailovich Demchenko, in the middle of the Russian invasion of the country.

The Ukrainian Presidency has thus published the decree that includes the dismissal of the first deputy secretary of the Council, although the entity’s website no longer includes information about Demchenko, who was appointed to the position on June 16, 2020.

Last week, the Ukrainian Parliament approved the dismissal of Ivan Bakanov as head of the intelligence services and of the attorney general, Irina Venediktova, supporting the decisions adopted on Sunday by the country’s president, Volodimir Zelenski, who during the day also replaced the heads of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in five regions of the country.

Zelensky is thus trying to “clean” the government entities in the face of the possible Russian presence after dozens of staff members from the Attorney General’s office and the Intelligence services allegedly remained in territories occupied by Russian troops and collaborated with Moscow. .
