We have known recently: the next Ys 10 will arrive in 2023 on PS5, PS4 and Switch in a rather special context, since this year will also mark the 35th anniversary of the series. But we still had to find out a lot of things about him. And today, we can now know some of them thanks to the communication from Falcom which formalizes, in a slightly clearer way, this tenth episode.
Ys 10: An episode full of new features?
This new component named Ys X: Nordics will take Adol to the side of Odelia Bay, which can be summed up in an aggregate of small and large islands. There, he will meet a people threatened by what have been presented to us as species of the living dead, the “Griegers”. And, during his adventure, our hero will have to cross the seas with the help of a boat, that, the players will be able to control and with which they will be able in particular to engage in battles (naval, of course). What constitutes a small novelty in the series, just like the presence of a still very mysterious special ability called “Mana Action”. Everything we know about him isis that it should be given “a lot of freedom in the fields and the dungeons”.
Small innovations to which another one is added, which is more in the combat system. Falcom is, in fact, introducing what it calls the “Cross Action” system, which will offer two types of game modes. First there will be the “solo” mode, giving the opportunity to be in control of a single character, who will be helped by comrades, who will be in the hands of the AI. Afterwards, players will also have the opportunity to head into the “Combination” mode, thus allowing to take control over two protagonists at once.
And that’s all that has been communicated for the moment, in addition to the few images that can be seen above. Now we just have to wait for future presentations, which will surely be keen to reveal all the aforementioned elements in detail, and, why not, draw attention to new ones, such as the Souls-like aspect that was mentioned earlier in the year, for example. And for that, Falcom will most certainly have the time to do it, especially since we are ready to release the game at the end of September 2023. At least, this is the case for Japan…
