MADRID, Nov. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, participated this Saturday in the delivery of EU humanitarian aid to the Egyptian Red Crescent, aid destined for the Gaza Strip.

“Satisfied to deliver EU aid to the Egyptian Red Crescent. Everything has been possible with the enormous collaboration with the Egyptian authorities and UNRWA,” Von der Leyen noted on X, formerly Twitter, in reference to the United Nations for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The EU official highlighted from the Sinai region, near the border with Gaza and Israel, that among the material sent there is “medical equipment to treat wounded civilians in Gaza” and recalled that “Team Europe is the largest donor of aid to the Palestinian people.

During her trip, Von der Leyen met with the Egyptian president, Abdel Fatta al Sisi, with whom she discussed the “humanitarian crisis in Gaza.” “I have thanked Egypt for its fundamental role in providing and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to vulnerable Palestinians,” he stressed.

Furthermore, they have agreed to reject the “forced displacement of Palestinians” and have stressed that the political horizon must be a two-state solution.
