The ‘Lomas del Mirador’ project is a space with which the Lima district of San Juan de Lurigancho seeks to protect 250 hectares of ecosystem on the Peruvian hill and obtain income thanks to a respectful and responsible tourism activity with the environment. As the video that accompanies this news shows, the suspension bridge is a attraction for visitors with its hundreds of colored boards. Under the colorful bridge are thousands of houses that make up the district.
The bridge is an initiative of the organization ‘Make your world green’, which thus wanted to protect “the only green lung in the city”, thinking of a whole generation that grew up without parks, without sports facilities or quality public spaces and whose only alternative leisure for many was to climb the hill.
The creators of the project were aware of the impact they could generate. For this reason, they created a suspension bridge that has managed to go viral on social networks, especially on Instagram and TikTok, where specialized tourism accounts have uploaded content related to this attraction. Thanks to the diffusion that it is receiving from the networks, more and more people are coming to this striking bridge and getting to know the Lima ecosystem of San Juan de Lurigancho with an image far from negative stereotypes.
