USA: 3 killed in shooting in Georgia

Three people, including a 17-year-old, were killed Monday in what authorities said was a shooting at an Atlanta-area home.

A suspect, 21-year-old Jailon Gray, was taken into custody at the scene and now faces three counts of murder and three counts of armed robbery, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Department officials said Monday at a news conference.

“Basically, what happened was an argument that led to a shooting,” Lt. LeJohn Tate said.

The police department received a report of gunfire at about 12:10 p.m. in the Honey Creek Country Club neighborhood of Conyers, Georgia, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Atlanta, the agency said in a statement.

In addition to the teenager, the other two people who died were 50 and 51 years old.

At Monday’s news conference, Tate declined to discuss the relationship between the suspect and the victims, but said Gray lived in the home. He described the shooting as a “domestic” incident and not a random one.

At the time of the incident, people were present in the vicinity of the house, but they were not injured, it added.

It was not known as of Monday if Gray had an attorney speaking on his behalf.
