Ukraine attacks a Russian city 200 kilometers from Moscow with a drone

TOAt least three people were injured on Sunday in the explosion caused by a Ukrainian drone in the Russian region of Tula, just over 200 kilometers from Moscow, Russian security forces reported today.

The explosion occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. local time (11:00 GMT) in the small town of Kirevsk, with a population of about 25,000.

In addition, three residential buildings and four other houses were damaged in the explosion.

Authorities have identified the enemy drone as a Russian-made Tu-141 (Strizh or Swift), the remains of which have already been located.

Despite the panic that the attack caused in the town, the regional government ruled out that there is a threat to the security of the population or its civil infrastructures.

The Tula region has been known since the time of Pedro the Great for being the site of several military factories that have produced weapons and ammunition for the Russian Army since 1712.

This Wednesday the Russian Navy repelled a drone attack against the port of Sevastopol -in the annexed Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea-, the base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

A day earlier, the Crimean authorities denounced another drone attack against the city of Dzhankoy, in the north of the peninsula, considered a railway junction from which Russia supplies weapons to the annexed Ukrainian regions of Kherson and Zaporizhia.
