
A commander of the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah and his bodyguard have been killed by an attack by the jihadist organization Hayat Tahrir al Sham against their vehicle in the countryside of Aleppo province, in the northwest of the country, the Syrian Observatory confirmed on Friday. for Human Rights.
The two troops, both Lebanese citizens, were killed by the impact of a guided rocket launched by members of this organization, known as the former Al Nusra Front, an affiliate of Al Qaeda in Syria.
A Syrian citizen was also killed in the attack, according to sources at the Observatory, a group based in London but with sources inside the country.
The group highlights that those on Friday were the first two deaths of Hezbollah troops in Syria since the beginning of the year.
Around 2,000 fighters from the group, including senior commanders, have been killed in the war since it decided to openly intervene on the side of President Bashar al Assad’s forces in 2012, according to a balance from the Lebanese portal Naharnet.
