MADRID, Sep. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Former US President Donald Trump has claimed that the documents seized during a raid on his residence in Mar-a-Lago were declassified and has argued that when he occupied the White House he could make this decision “saying that they are declassified or even thinking about it”.

“There does not have to be a process (for the declassification of documents), as I understand it. If you are the president of the United States, you can declassify by saying ‘they are declassified’ or even thinking about it,” he said during an interview with the television network American Fox News.

“You’re going to send them (the documents) to Mar-a-Lago or wherever you’re going to send them. There doesn’t have to be a process. There can be, but there doesn’t have to be. You’re the president of the United States. Tomas the decision. When you send them, they are declassified. I declassified everything (the documents found in Mar-a-Lago), “he said.

A US federal appeals court on Wednesday restored access to the documents seized from Trump to the Justice Department, after US District Judge Aileen Cannon for the Southern District of Florida appointed an expert to review them in his place.

The emergency intervention of three judges of a national court of appeals –of which two were appointed by Trump– annuls Cannon’s order on the documents with which he had blocked the Justice Department’s investigation into the possible crimes that The former president would have committed by taking a multitude of state secrets to his residence in Florida.

Among the documents that FBI agents collected during the raid on the Mar-a-Lago residence last month, some confidential files have been found that would even describe the military defenses of a foreign government, including its nuclear capabilities.
