The judge of the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court Benedito Goncalves has ordered this Saturday to withdraw from the Internet an electoral video recorded last Wednesday by President Jair Bolsonaro from the Alvorada Palace, seat of the Brazilian Presidency.

The judge considers that in the recording Bolsonaro makes electoral use of “public goods and services to which he only has access due to his capacity as president of the republic,” according to the Brazilian press.

In the video, Bolsonaro openly asks his supporters to vote for the October elections, in which his rival, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, starts as the favorite.

The fine for this use could amount to 20,000 reais (about 3,900 euros) and provides another 10,000 reais fine if the videos are not removed within 24 hours. That is why he appeals to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to comply with the sentence. The video lasts 30 minutes and has already obtained 316,000 views.
