MADRID, Oct. 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish digital technology sector has invoiced 114,493 million euros in 2021, 5.2% more than in the previous year, according to the Digital Economy Barometer 2022, published this Friday by Ametic.
In this way, the sector has recovered the growth rates prior to the pandemic, where, according to the president of Ametic, Pedro Mier, it has been revealed as a “fundamental support” for business and social life, since 22% of GDP came directly or indirectly from the sector.
Likewise, the year 2021 has also been characterized by being the one in which the technology sector has reached its highest number of registered companies
In parallel, the Public Administration practically doubled its investment in technology, which reached 5,296.03 million euros, according to the report, thanks to the impact of European funds.
Information technologies have generated almost half of the sector’s income (48.1%), thanks to the impact of the cloud and data, while Communications have generated 25.3%.
In terms of employment, the sector ended last year with 600,000 direct jobs, of which 31.7% have been generated in the last five years (140,257 in absolute terms). Of these, more than 60% are men and 38.4% women, so the study confirms the persistence of the gender gap in technology.
