MADRID, Dec. 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Somali government believes the jihadist group Al Shabaab has massacred more than a hundred of its own wounded fighters during its withdrawal a week ago from its stronghold of Adal Jabal, now back in the hands of the Somali Army following operations in the Middle Shabelle region.
According to the authorities, Somali security forces discovered several mass graves in the area earlier this week containing the mortal remains of jihadist fighters.
All the bodies, according to the Government, had “secondary injuries” that had prevented them from escaping the advancing Somali forces.
In its statement on Friday, picked up by the Hiiraan on Line portal, the government condemned what it described as an “anti-Islamic and immoral massacre.”
The Federal Government of Somalia repudiates these abuses committed by the jauarij (the “renegades” of the true nature of Islam); acts that “are outside of Somali culture, Islam and Humanity”.
