The smart home and the different functions and devices that make it possible have been the protagonists of one of the main press conferences held within the framework of the IFA consumer technology and electronics fair, where their different lighting, security and connectivity proposals have been presented.
In the Smart Home League session, prior to the official start of the event, different brands focused on the development of teams with these purposes have participated, such as tado°, Philips Hue, go-e, Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) Y Yale.
The person in charge of opening the paper was tado°which has recalled that its customers managed to reduce their energy costs by up to 38 percent last year thanks to its various energy saving solutions.
Thus, he has presented a technological solution that takes advantage of the times when the price of energy is reduced throughout the day to carry out most of the cooling or heating of the home.
The home climate control device developer company has announced that it has created this mechanism, called tado° Balancewith the aim of changing both the future of energy consumption in the home and that of renewable energies.
This solution is designed not only to take advantage of the cheapest moments of electricity in an environment in which energy prices are changingbut also to maintain the temperature in the home in the ranges preferred by the user.
According to the company, currently by using smart thermostats users save an average of 22 percent of energy costs. However, this functionality promises reduce costs by an additional 20 percent.
Thus, he has given as an example that, if the average price of electricity in Spain in July of this year was 14 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), users with a combined usage rate with this solution would have paid 9 cents per kWh instead.
To configure this solution, users will only have to select their country and region, so that tadoº Balance will automatically adjust to the wholesale price of electricity according to the location, regardless of the energy provider.
tadoº Balance is now available in Spain, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Austria for iOS and Android. However, it will expand this product to other countries. The annual price of this service is 29.99 euros per year.
For its part, go-e has mentioned two of its most recent flagship products, which offer smart charging for electric cars and which comes in two formats. One of them fixed and the other portable.
These units are Gemini & Geminiflex, compact charging stations that can be adapted to different car environments and are capable of offering a configurable charging current between 11 and 22 kW.
They do not require a complex installation and can be used both with the go-e application, which is free and shows data such as electricity meter readings and other smart comfort settings and security.
Secondly, yale has made a tour of its catalog and has underlined that it maintains its commitment to security solutions for the smart home, with cameras, smart locks, alarm devices, smoke detectors and even Yale SmartSafe.
This, which was presented within the framework of CES 2020 and is an intelligent safe that can be controlled remotely from the ‘smartphone’, a device from which you can check the status of the autonomy or view the access history .
With this, he has taken the opportunity to point out that he works with DHL in a smart home access project to make deliveries without the need for contact with the user, while maintaining absolute protection of the home.
For its part, Philips has focused on its home lighting products and has presented its latest Philips Hue Lightguide lamps, as well as a new Play Gradient Lightstrip designed for PC monitors and focused on ‘gaming’.
Firstly, it has presented its three types of bulbs, which offer smart lighting functions, which will soon be available in its Philips Hue Lightguide catalogue. These dimmable bulbsconsume as little energy as possible, adjust to the surrounding conditions and offer three formats.
The first of them, Globe, which is round, will go on sale for a recommended price of 84.99 euros. Next, Ellipse can be purchased for 99.99 euros, while the Triangular model will be priced at 84.99 euros. All will be available from the fourth quarter of 2022.

THE OPEN STANDARD FOR THE CONNECTED HOME IS HERE
The last firm to present its proposal was CSA, which first recalled that, since 2022, it has focused its efforts on simplifying the IoT ecosystem and making it accessible so that all users can connect and interact safely.
The result of this work is Matter, the open standard for the connected home, with which it seeks to build an ecosystem that allows the integration of products from the Internet of Things (IoT) from different manufacturers.
These can be thermostats, cameras, locks, lights, switches, and other sensors. As of the end of 2021, more than 130 devices have been certified by Matter, whose public launch has been postponed in recent months to extend testing events and validations.
The Specification Validation Event (SVE) already validated and complete has materialized in Matter 1.0. For its launch, it is expected to include air conditioning controls, electric fans, security sensors, smart televisions and electric shutters, among others, in its ecosystem.
In the next version of the standard, it is expected to integrate household appliances, robot vacuum cleaners, bells and cameras or power management devices and access points, as CSA has advanced.
