A Serbian lawmaker has resigned after a video showing him watching pornography on his cell phone during a parliamentary session went viral, public broadcaster RTS reported.
The video shows Zvonimir Stevic looking at pornographic content during a tense parliamentary debate on a possible agreement with Kosovo, which took place in the Chamber last week.
Kosovo, a former province of Serbia, unilaterally declared its independence in 2008, a decade after a war between Serb forces and Albanian rebels.
Both Serbia and Kosovo are under pressure from Western countries to find an agreement to normalize their relations.
The leader of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party lashed out at Stevic for “watching a porn movie” during the session, which also saw physical confrontations between several parliamentarians.
Stevic, 65, originally from Kosovo, is a member of the Socialist Party, which asked him to resign after the video went viral. The Socialists are part of the ruling coalition.
