The aggregate volume of assets acquired in Spain within the framework of the different asset purchase programs implemented since 2009 by the European Central Bank (ECB) totaled 624,626 million euros in July, 0.64% more than in June and 14 .88% above the figure for a year earlier, according to data from the Bank of Spain consulted by Europa Press.
It should be noted that the European Central Bank (ECB) indicated the possibility of ending the purchases of the public asset program (APP), although it finally chose to maintain them for an “extended” period of time from the first increase rate, which was applied on July 21.
In the Eurosystem as a whole, the aggregate amount of asset purchases reached a total of 4.95 trillion euros in the seventh month of 2022, which implies a slight decrease of 0.06% in the monthly rate, but an increase of 15.87% in interannual rate.
The aggregate volume of asset purchases in Spain represents 12.60% of the total corresponding to the consolidated balance sheet of the Eurosystem, compared to 12.51% in June and 12.70% a year earlier.
On the other hand, the debt of Spanish banks with the European Central Bank (ECB), which reflects the gross appeal of the entities to the issuing institute through regular financing operations, remained at 289,689 million euros in July, a amount that has not changed since the beginning of the year 2022.
According to data from the Bank of Spain, the debt was reduced by 0.30% compared to the same month of the previous year.
For its part, the gross appeal of the Eurosystem as a whole to the ECB fell by just 67 million euros in the month of July, to stand at 2.125 billion euros. This figure is 4.10% lower than a year earlier.
Thus, the appeal of the resident banks in Spain to the issuing institution represented 13.63% of the total of the Eurosystem in July, a figure slightly higher than the 13.21% of June and also above the 13.10% registered in July 2021.
