The Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office has requested an arrest warrant against the current deputy and former PAN delegate from the Benito Juarez demarcation Christian Von Roehrich (2015-2018) in the framework of investigations into the real estate cartel, as reported on Thursday by the spokesman for the Public Ministry, Ulises Lara. The “important” advances in the investigations have led the authorities to arrest three other former officials of the mayor’s office.
The explosion of a washing machine in a house belonging to the Benito Juarez Mayor’s Office was the origin of a series of investigations related to irregular works carried out in the capital demarcation. The new arrests of the three former officials are added to the two that had occurred so far. The former director of Works and Urban Development of the Mayor’s Office, Nicias Aridjis, the alleged leader of the real estate cartel, was apprehended in October for alleged illicit enrichment. For the same reason, the former legal and government director general during two PAN administrations, Luis Vizcaino, was arrested three months earlier, in July.
Ismael “N”, Jose Ramon “N” and Alejandro “N” have already been transferred to the North Prison in Mexico City, awaiting their legal status. The Public Ministry arrested the three for allegedly having used their political position illegally.

Lara has assured that one of the ex-officials prosecuted has provided “solid evidence” that could link “high-level hierarchical” characters from different administrations with crimes that occurred in the mayor’s office. The data would be added to the investigations already carried out and in process for the use of the soil in the demarcation.
“After the 2017 earthquake, the Benito Juarez mayor’s office disbursed close to 207 million pesos assigned to alleged shell companies,” the Public Ministry spokesman said in his statement. The appointments were made through three types of contracts: two of them for different companies with the concept of machinery for demolition work; and one more for maintenance of public buildings affected.
Von Roehrich was delegate of the Benito Juarez demarcation between 2015 and 2018, a period that coincides with the assignments made after the earthquake. At the end of his term, the former delegate served as a deputy in the Mexico City Congress, where he continues as a deputy for the National Action Party (PAN). Despite the fact that he continues with a public position, Lara has assured that in the capital a trial is not necessary to proceed with the arrest “since the local legislators do not have constitutional jurisdiction”, that is, they do not have immunity legal.
