The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, has appointed this Tuesday the lawyer Sandra Urrutia Perez as the new Minister of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), thus ending all the appointments of his Executive.
The decision has taken place after it was speculated that Urrutia Perez could lead said portfolio, since the previous appointment that President Petro had fell due to a possible conflict of interest of Mery Gutierrez, who had been appointed for that purpose, has reported ‘ The Colombian’.
Gutierrez’s appointment fell due to the fact that he is the largest shareholder of Programar Television, a company that sued the Colombian nation for more than 10 million euros.
The new person in charge of the ICT portfolio is a lawyer, has studied administrative law and is specialized in telecommunications law. She has also worked in the field of home public services, surveillance and control, regulation and customer service, according to ‘La Republica’.
With this appointment, the president of the country fulfills one of the promises of the electoral campaign, in which he proposed parity among the positions of the 18 ministerial portfolios.
