The Kosovar Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, denounced on Tuesday night an intensification of the attacks in the north of Kosovo, for which he has announced that he is considering deploying a greater number of police officers in the area.

“Criminal gangs have intensified attacks in northern Kosovo (…). The Kosovo government does not negotiate with them or tolerate them. The bombs they drop, the bullets they fire (…) are their political impotence and popular”, Kurti assured through a post on his Facebook account.

Kurti has pointed out that “numerous violations of the law will not be forgiven”, while “destabilizing tendencies will fail”.

“With these attacks in the north of Ibri, we will probably have more Kosovo police there. Because there will be investigations and prosecutions for these criminals, who are paid by Serbia and directed by its president,” criticized the Kosovar ‘premier’.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has criticized Kosovo for sending armed police. “One wonders what day some new provocation will occur that could disturb stability and peace,” he said in statements collected by the Serbian radio station B92.

“It’s good that, at least according to the current data, there are no casualties, we think it will continue to be (so),” added Vucic.

Presumably Serb militants attacked poll workers and police officers on Tuesday in northern Kosovo, in the North Mitrovica and Zubin Potok regions, reports dpa.

The assailants have fired into the air and police officers have detonated explosive devices in a controlled manner. In addition, an electoral commission office has been destroyed, reports Kosovo Online.
