MADRID, Sep. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Government is preparing to request 6,000 million corresponding to the third disbursement of European funds ‘Next Generation EU’, which will be linked to the fulfillment of 29 milestones and objectives (20 reforms and 9 investments).

This was announced by the First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calvino, at the Joint Commission for the European Union, where she appeared, at her own request, to report on the latest advances regarding the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience.

Calvino has advanced that the request will be presented “on dates similar” to those of last year – around the month of November – and has assured that today they are underway and “all the necessary steps” have been taken to comply with with those 29 milestones and goals.

At the end of July this year, the Spanish Treasury received 12,000 million euros linked to the second disbursement of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for the fulfillment of 40 milestones and objectives (31 milestones and 9 objectives) throughout the second semester of 2021, one of the most relevant keys for the arrival of resources being the approval of the labor reform.

In total, Spain has already received more than 31,000 million from the ‘Next Generation EU’ funds after having already completed the pre-financing and the first two payments of the transfers assigned to the country.

Looking ahead to the coming months, Calvino recalled that he is maintaining contacts with communities and political groups to prepare the addendum to the Recovery Plan, which he plans to approve before the end of the year to mobilize the 7,700 million euros of additional transfers assigned to Spain and the more than 84,000 million euros in loans.

The vice president has reported that next week she will close contacts on the Recovery Plan with the autonomous communities with a final meeting with the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso.

The Government’s intention is to dedicate the additional transfers to “reinforce” the Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation (Perte) –which are a total of eleven–, although it has indicated that “if a new perte has to be made, will do”.

On the credit side, the vice president explained that they will be channeled through different funds that allow these loans to be mobilized when necessary to support public and private investment. In fact, the creation of a fund for strategic investments of the autonomous communities is planned, which will allow them to develop public policies in the areas of their competence.

These financial instruments will have, in any case, more favorable conditions than those of the market, according to the vice president.
