The first lady of the United States, Jill Biden, was discharged this Sunday after testing negative for the second consecutive day in the coronavirus test, less than a week since COVID-19 was detected.

“After self-isolating for five days and receiving negative results from two consecutive COVID-19 tests, the first lady will depart South Carolina for Delaware,” Biden communications director Elizabeth Alexander said.

The wife of the North American president, Joe Biden, showed the first symptoms late on Sunday and, although he initially tested negative in an antigen test, a subsequent PCR confirmed that he had contracted COVID-19.

Jill Biden, 71, has received two doses of the vaccine and is being treated with Paxlovid, the same drug her husband took when he contracted the coronavirus in July.
