The European Union has conveyed its condemnation of the attack perpetrated by Russia against civilian buildings in the city of Vinitsia, located in the center of Ukraine, and in which at least 22 people have lost their lives, while another fifty have been injured.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, and Commissioner responsible for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, have issued a joint statement accusing Russia of launching attacks against “civilian objects, including hospitals, medical facilities, schools and shelters.

Thus, the EU has regretted that the city of Vinitsia joins the despicable list of Ukrainian towns that have been the scene of Russian atrocities, such as Bucha, Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Kremenchuk, Sloviansk, Kharkov, Odessa and, more recently, Chasiv Yar.

“The Russian Armed Forces and their representatives are leaving a trail of blood in Ukraine. Thousands of civilians have already been killed. This barbaric behavior of Russia, in total disregard of Humanitarian Law, must stop immediately,” both officials have demanded. Europeans.

Both Borrell and Lenarcic have seen “with their own eyes” the scenario that remains in Ukraine as the war progresses, and have been “witnesses of the horrible destruction” that Russia causes in its neighboring country, which it decided to invade at the end of February by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The European Union has focused on the challenges faced by the population, such as “death, violence, including sexual violence, forced deportations and destruction”, with which it has called on the international community so that these “crimes” do not go unpunished.

“All those responsible for these atrocities must be held accountable for their actions, in accordance with International Law”, Borrell and Lenarcic have settled in their statement, where they stress that the Twenty-seven support “all efforts to guarantee accountability for the violations of human rights and violations of humanitarian law.
