    The Dutch Justice extends the provisional detention of the arrested Spanish trucker for two weeks

    A court in Rotterdam has ordered that the Spanish trucker arrested on Saturday after a multiple hit-and-run with six dead remain in provisional detention for at least another two weeks, a period in which he will not be able to have more contact than with his lawyer.

    The 45-year-old detainee is accused of causing a traffic accident with fatalities and serious injuries, after the vehicle he was driving left the road in Nieuw-Beijerland on Saturday and rammed a group participating in a barbecue .

    The driver tested negative for breathalyzer tests carried out after the incident, which also resulted in seven injuries. The Prosecutor’s Office has ruled out giving more details about the case while the investigations progress, according to the Dutch television channel NOS.
