    The Colombian Air Force has confirmed this Sunday the sighting of a balloon in its airspace after the Pentagon’s announcement of a second alleged Chinese spy device that was flying over Latin America.

    In the midst of the tensions between China and the United States over the downing of an alleged Asian surveillance balloon in the Atlantic Ocean, the Colombian National Air Defense System has registered a similar object at 55,000 feet, which entered the airspace Colombian in the northern sector of the country.

    According to the authorities’ statement, this object has been identified with the “characteristics similar to those of a balloon” and has already left Colombian airspace.

    In addition, he has stressed that said object does not represent a threat to national security and defense and that from now on the pertinent investigations will be launched, with different countries and institutions, to find out the origin of the object.

    Previously, the United States Department of Defense reported this Friday night the presence of a second Chinese spy balloon that would be flying over Latin America.

    “We are seeing reports of a balloon in transit over Latin America. Now we assess that it is another Chinese surveillance balloon,” Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder told CNN.
