American Formula 2 driver Logan Sargeant has accumulated the necessary points to obtain a super license from the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the necessary documentation to participate in Formula 1, and will race for Williams in the highest category of motorsport next year .

Sargeant finished fifth in the final F2 race of the season and fourth overall in the drivers’ standings and thus picked up the requisite super license points.

Last month, Williams team principal Jost Capito said Sargeant would drive for the team alongside Thai Alex Albon “on condition” he had “sufficient super license points”. In this way, all F1 seats for 2023 are taken.

To obtain the superlicence, among other things, the driver must be at least 18 years old at the start of his first F1 participation and accumulate at least 40 superlicense points in the previous three seasons in any combination of championships.

Sargeant made his ‘Grand Circus’ debut in the first free practice of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix last month.
