Telefónica España weathers the telecommunications storm: its billing is maintained and service revenue grows for the first time in 3 years

The Spanish telecommunications sector has gone through a complex year 2022, especially due to the price war between the 3 big operators against emerging companies, and which has recently had economic consequences for Vodafone and Orange.

This Thursday the turn has come to present accounts to Telefónica, and the telecommunications giant in Spain has managed to save the dishes in its 2022 numbers, in which it celebrates having grown in all its international markets.

Spain continues to be the most important market for Telefónica, with 27% of its billing total. Its Spanish division entered 12,497 million euros during the past yearwhich represents flat growth of 0.6% and 0.2% in the fourth quarter.

At the customer level, Telefónica España is also saved from the storm, since its number of accesses grew slightly (0.9%) over the past year to reach 40.5 million accesses, including retailers and wholesalers.

The number of mobile customers exceeded 19.3 million accesses in Spain. Broadband customers fell slightly (-0.3%) to reach 5,855,000 accesses, despite the 4% growth in fiber services direct to home (FTTH).
