Two Syrian soldiers have died and three more have been injured by the impact of an Israeli missile against a military base in the province of Homs, as reported by the Syrian Government.

“Two soldiers have been martyred and three more have been injured as a result of the impact of an Israeli missile on the Shayrat military airport in Homs province,” the official Syrian news agency, SANA, reported.

The attack came from the direction of Tripoli and Hermel, in northern Lebanon, according to a military source quoted by the news agency. Syrian anti-aircraft defenses have repelled “Israeli missile aggression” and shot down several shells, according to the source.

However, the attack has caused these two deaths and injuries to three more soldiers, as well as “material losses”, added the source cited by SANA.

The Israeli Armed Forces have not commented on what happened as they always do with this type of air strikes against Syrian targets.

A few days ago a convoy was attacked with Israeli missiles near the Syrian-Iraqi border and ten people were killed, including several Iranians. The convoy was transporting fuel and possibly weapons between Iran and Lebanon.

Israel generally acknowledges attacks to prevent the delivery of Iranian weapons to the Lebanese militia party Hezbollah, an ally of Tehran, but no specific actions. It also maintains a precarious diplomatic balance between Russia, which effectively controls Syrian airspace, and its Western allies, which support Ukraine.
