Sudan | An evacuation convoy from the French embassy comes under attack

The evacuation of its citizens and its diplomatic personnel in Sudan gives France an unpleasant scare that could end in tragedy.

officially confirmed that one of the evacuation convoys was attacked by the regular Army when it was being escorted by the rebel paramilitaries, who denounced this action on Twitter.

According to various media, a French citizen was injured in circumstances yet to be determined, information not officially confirmed by the Ministry.

Among the countries that completed their evacuation this Sunday is the United Kingdom, which the Prime Minister himself, Rishi Sunak, has described the operation as “complex” but “quick”.

The United States evacuated its last citizens this Sunday by air while Saudi Arabia did it by land and sea, on Saturday.

A total of 157 people of different nationalities were repatriated by the Saudi Government, most of them were transferred to the city of Jeddah to receive assistance.

Despite calls for an end to violence, fighting is intensifying in Sudan. Pope Francis has insisted on taking the path of dialogue.

The clashes between the regular Army and the paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces for control of the country are entering their second week. More than 400 people have lost their lives and an estimated 3,550 have been injured, according to WHO data.
