Spotify adds audiobooks to its platform

New section of audiobooks on Spotify – SPOTIFY

Spotify has officially entered the market the audiobooks with a catalog of more than 300,000 titles that are available to users in the United States within the main application of the platform.

The company knows the figures of the market in which it has just entered. Although audiobooks represent a 6-7 percent share of the book market, it is a category that is growing by around 20 percent each year.

The audiobooks thus join the other proposals already offered by the streaming, music and podcast platform, which makes it “the true destination for everyone’s listening needs”, as Spotify has pointed out on its official blog.

Audiobooks will appear in the Spotify app as a section in the users’ library, where they can search for the titles that interest them or access recommendations based on their interests from the main page.

Initially, the audiobook catalog has been made available to users in the United States, who have access to over 300,000 titles, which can be purchased on a website. The audiobook you buy will appear in your library, and you’ll have options like offline content downloadthe bookmarks to resume listening where it was left off, and the possibility of rate and comment.

“Just like we did with podcasts, this will introduce a new format to an audience that has never consumed it before, unlocking a whole new segment of potential listeners,” the company said.

The company plans to add new features to this content and extend it to other markets.
