
After Luis Rubiales refused to resign, the players of the national team took up Jenni Hermoso’s cause and announced that they would no longer play with La Roja if the current leadership was maintained.
The 23 FIFA Women’s World Cup champions in Australia and New Zealand this August, announced in a statement released by their association FutPro, his resignation to continue attending the calls of the selection while Luis Rubiales remains as president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
“After everything that happened during the Women’s World Cup, we want to state that all the players who sign this letter will not return to a call for the National Team if the current leaders continue”they communicated in the letter in which Jenni Hermoso censures Rubiales’ words at the Extraordinary General Assembly held this Friday.
In the same statement, Jenni Hermoso states that “at no time did he consent to this kiss”: “I am not going to tolerate that my word is questioned and unless statements are made that I have not made.”
The statement is signed by a total of 81 players and former players (the 23 world champions and 58 others).
