
The Eighth Section of the Court of Barcelona has acquitted the motorcycle pilot Sito Pons, currently manager of the Pons Racing team, of the six tax crimes of which the Prosecutor and the Spanish and Catalan Tax Agencies accused him and for which he was facing to 24 years in jail.
This was explained by the Molins Criminal Defense and Picaza Legal offices in a statement this Wednesday, after the trial that took place in February and March of this year.
The Court has declared proven in the judgment that, in the years between 2010 and 2014, Pons “spent more than 200 days traveling around the world and was not a tax resident in Spain, but in Monaco (2010 to 2012). and United Kingdom (2013 to 2014)”.
The sentence also states that the athlete “as a taxpayer, has declared income derived from work for others and self-employment, as well as interest earned.”
Likewise, the Court has proven that most of Pons’ economic interests and financial assets and the core of its economic activity “are concentrated and located outside Spanish territory, except for some properties located in Spain.”
