Russian Navy claims to have ‘repelled’ drone attack in Sevastopol

Xi Jinping left Moscow after praising with Vladimir Putin the entry into a “new era” of their “special” relationship with Westerners. The Russian president cautiously supported the Chinese plan to settle the conflict in Ukraine, while accusing kyiv of rejecting it.

The Russian navy “repelled” a drone attack Wednesday on the port of Sevastopol, in Crimea, a peninsula annexed by Moscow, announced the governor of the city.

“The Black Sea Fleet repelled a surface drone attack on Sevastopol,” Governor Mikhail Razvojayev, installed by Russia, said on Telegram. “They tried to enter our bay, our sailors fired at them with small arms. The air defense also worked,” he added.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed “productive” talks with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, praising Tokyo’s “very concrete will” to “protect” Ukraine from “Russian terror “.

“Given Japan’s power, its leadership in Asia for the defense of peace and the rules-based international order, and its responsibility as the (rotating) chair of the G7, today’s discussions can have a global outcome,” Zelensky said in his daily video message.
