Russia launches a massive attack against Ukraine: explosions in kyiv and 17 missiles against Zaporizhia

Russia has launched a massive attack against Ukraine this Friday, just one day after the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, concluded his European tour, a journey that has taken him to London, Paris and Brussels and has allowed him to meet, among others, with the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak; the president of France, Emmanuel Macron; and the chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz.

According to the information available for now, the Russian attacks began at dawn, affecting several Ukrainian regions and again seriously damaging the fabric of the country’s electrical grid. One of the crudest attacks has occurred against the city of Zaporizhia, in southern Ukraine, where Kremlin troops have launched 17 missiles.

Specifically, and according to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia has fired “six Kaliber cruise missiles” and “up to 35 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhia regions”, and has used “seven Shahed drones”, reports AFP.

To this we must add the explosions that have been recorded in kyiv, where the anti-aircraft sirens are sounding at this moment, and which have been reported by sources cited by Reuters.

As usual, Russia launches these attacks after the international community shows its commitment to Ukraine’s victory. In this case, moreover, the bombings seem to be a warning against the new requests for arms made by Zelensky, who now wants to receive combat planes that will improve the forces of his Army, notably strengthened after several countries agreed to send Leopard tanks and Abrams.
