The Government spokesperson and Minister of Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodriguez, has asked this Tuesday “respect for the parties to the collective bargaining”, after the Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Diaz, supported the mobilizations of the unions against the employer to raise wages.
“The Government wants to continue working on this path of dialogue and also respect,” Rodriguez said at the press conference after the Council of Ministers.
The spokeswoman for the Executive has urged to respect the conversations between unions and employers in collective bargaining, since “that part depends only on them.”
Rodriguez has also expressed his respect for “any demonstration as a line to defend these objectives of workers’ rights”, although he has recalled that the Government has already “done everything the unions want to do”, and has cited the increase in salary Minimum Interprofessional (SMI), the revaluation of pensions according to inflation or the increase in the purchasing power of public workers.
“This is a government that can show off, in times of great difficulty, having shared responsibility with social agents, with unions and also with employers. I think this is recognized by the vast society”, commented the spokeswoman.
Rodriguez has highlighted that the agreements in “the worst moments of the pandemic” were reached “thanks to that dialogue with businessmen and workers”, who yielded “in their positions for the interest of Spain”.
