Rey Mysterio was challenged to a match at WrestleMania 39 by his son Dominic Mysterio this past Monday night on “WWE Raw.” Although the former WWE Champion turned down that particular offer, he recently agreed to step into the ring with James Corden on his popular talk show.
Filmed with Bad Bunny in the Carpool Karaoke segment “The Late Late Show with James Gordon,” the TV personality asked the musician what it takes to become a professional wrestler; Bunny paused in surprise and didn’t answer Gordon. After a few minutes, Bunny said that he could train Gordon. “I’ll be off the top rope in less than an hour,” the 44-year-old replied. The next scene showed Bunny inside a wrestling ring trying to train Gordon using various submission holds. The Puerto Rican rapper then brought up Mysterio, who tried to teach Gordon bad looks.
A match between Gordon and Mysterio was then set up, with the British-born comedian donning a purple wrestling outfit for Cheryn’s song “Believe.” Mysterio tried to shake off Gordon’s arm as the fight began, but the “Master of 619” kicked the actor in the groin and launched a sunset powerbomb for a quick win. Bunny finally counted the pin.
Mysterio is scheduled to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 31 following “WWE SmackDown” at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. Meanwhile, Bunny will host the Backlash Premium live event in San Juan, Puerto Rico in May.
