The spokesman for Renovacion Popular, Jorge Montoya, stated this Wednesday that they will not present a motion of censure against the president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, until they obtain a total of 87 votes with the aim of not failing after two failed attempts.

The Popular Force congressman, Alejandro Aguinaga, explained that although he has not yet met with his bench, there is a general intention of his colleagues to support this initiative, according to the newspaper ‘La Republica’.

The initiative has been brewing since Monday, when Congressman Edward Malaga, of the opposition Purple Party, began the process to collect signatures with the intention of promoting a third motion of censure against the Peruvian president.

The last attempt to kick Castillo out of the Presidency was promoted by Renovacion Popular and had the endorsement of his own caucus, Fuerza Popular, Somos Peru, Avanza Pais, Podemos Peru and Alianza por el Progreso.

Castillo, who has held the Peruvian Presidency for just 15 months, has already appointed up to three cabinets and has faced a constant trickle of resignations and dismissals of ministers, as a result of pressure from the opposition, which seeks to unseat the president.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Castillo would be the head of a criminal organization active in the Ministry of Transport and Communications in complicity with Silva, as well as with officials from Provias Nacional and Provias Descentralizado, the Presidential Office and businessmen and third parties, to favor the consortium. Puente Tarata III and other companies in public bidding processes.
