The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Relations has summoned the Colombian business manager in Lima to express his “astonishment” at the statements by the country’s authorities on the latest events in the Andean nation.

The diplomatic portfolio has expressed that it has been reminded that in Peru there is “full respect for Human Rights, due process and the separation of powers”, which guarantees access to independent justice, in a statement released on Twitter. .

“The Government of Peru will continue to deepen the friendship, cooperation and integration that unite both peoples, based on mutual respect, the full validity of international law and shared values ​​on democracy and Human Rights,” they concluded.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro had regretted in recent days that Castillo had resorted to undemocratic methods, however he had pointed out that a “parliamentary coup” has been brewing in Congress against the former president for months.

In addition, Petro had sued the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to establish precautionary measures for the vacated president and detained for rebellion.
