The Valencian tennis player Pedro Martinez will replace the Murcian Carlos Alcaraz in the Spanish Davis Cup team for the Finals of the competition, which will be played from November 22 to 27 at the Martin Carpena in Malaga, the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation confirmed on Monday (RFET).

“Pedro Martinez replaces Carlos Alcaraz in the final list of the Spanish MAPFRE tennis team for the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga,” the federative body reported on its official Twitter social network account.

The 25-year-old from Alzira, who is currently ranked 61st in the ATP ranking, joins Pablo Carreno from Asturias, Roberto Bautista from Castellon and Marcel Granollers from Barcelona in the team led by Sergi Bruguera. Previously, he was present in the ‘Playoff’ against Romania and in the group stage matches in September against Canada, Serbia and South Korea, in all of them playing the doubles.

This same year, Martinez debuted his record on the circuit with the conquest of the title in the tournament in Santiago (Chile), in the ATP 250 category and played on clay.

Alcaraz, number one in the world, announced on Saturday that he suffered an abdominal injury, which occurred in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1,000 in Paris-Bercy, and that he would not be able to play either the ATP Finals or the Davis Cup Finals. . In this way, the Asturian Pablo Carreno will be the Spanish number one.
