Paulina Pena celebrates her wedding in Mexico without her father, former President Enrique Pena Nieto

Paulina Pena Pretelini celebrated a discreet wedding in the State of Mexico on September 10 without her father, former president Enrique Pena Nieto, who has been based in Spain since 2020. The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has been investigating him for years for corruption , treason and electoral crime allegedly committed during his time as president (2012-2018).

Thus, without the presence of her father or her mother, who died in January 2007, the former president’s daughter married Fernando Tena Alonso, her boyfriend for six years and the son of former Mexican national team coach Luis Fernando Tena. Only 30 people attended the ceremony, which was full of secrecy. The mobiles and devices of all the guests were seized at the beginning of the event, with the aim of preventing videos, photographs and any other type of information from transcending social networks, according to the magazine Who.

The newlywed, despite the huge number of followers she has on social networks (with almost 190,000 on the social network Instagram), has not denied or confirmed any of the information regarding her wedding. No member of her family or her husband’s family has publicly referred to this matter, perhaps to continue her intention to keep this private. The last photo that Paulina uploaded to her Instagram is from three days ago and it shows a series of roofs of buildings without identification of place. People, despite her silence, already congratulate her in her comments (“Congratulations on your commitment Pau, blessings”, writes someone who identifies himself with the name of nonachim).

The Attorney General’s Office announced at the beginning of last month that it had opened three investigations against Pena Nieto, for “several complaints in which the company OHL is involved”, alleged crimes of “money laundering and illegal international transfers”, and “illicit enrichment”. The state agency has clarified that it has not yet presented any of the three cases before the judge, who is the one who decides, based on the evidence submitted, whether or not to order the arrest of the former president.

Even so, Pena Nieto has lived in Spain for at least a couple of years, with a golden visa, according to information from this newspaper. Before that, he tried to get a residence permit for exceptional circumstances. This modality allows obtaining the visa without following the usual procedure and without the need to meet certain requirements, when there are exceptional circumstances of an economic, labor or social nature that advise it, according to the Regulations of the Spanish Immigration Law. In the case of the former president, Spain did not admit his request for processing “because he did not meet the requirements for it.”

The golden visa, which does allow you to be in Spain legally, is a residence permit that is normally granted to large international investors. It can be obtained in various ways, and all involve the investment of money on Spanish soil: allocate at least one million euros to the acquisition of Spanish assets, have a business project, or buy real estate for at least 500,000 euros (10 million pesos). Enrique Pena Nieto chose this last modality to obtain his visa, and in 2020 he bought a 105-square-meter premises in the wealthy Madrid neighborhood of Chamberi, according to the property registry to which this newspaper has had access. It is estimated that the property has a value of just over 500,000 euros.

The former president’s daughter celebrated the religious ceremony at the Czestochowa Church, located in Naucalpan, State of Mexico, while the civil wedding took place at the house of her husband’s mother, in the same municipality. According to newspaper information Millennium, the witnesses of both weddings were her uncles Ana Cecilia Pena Nieto and her husband Felipe Casahonda. The wedding was scheduled for next October 1, however, some information from gossip magazines suggest that the link will be held again in Spain, so that Pena Pretelini can count on the presence of her father.
