OnePlus launches into the folding market with a device that will arrive at the end of 2023

OnePlus is having a very interesting Mobile World Congress full of announcements. A prototype with a liquid cooling system, its first tablet and shortly before the event its flagship, the OnePlus 11 and its new TWS headphones, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2.

Little by little, the company has been expanding its portfolio with all kinds of devices, but they needed to enter the star category of the moment: the folding market, something they will do this year.

This has been confirmed by Kinder Liu, president and COO of OnePlus, in a round table called From Fast & Smooth to Beyond held at the MWC.

“Our first foldable phone will have the fast and smooth experience characteristic of OnePlus. It is a flagship that will turn heads, not only for its industrial foldable design, but also for its mechanical technology,” reveals Liu.

At the moment there are no specifications, design, or features, but what is clear is that OnePlus is going for everything in the field of folding: “We want to launch a device that aspires to be at the top of the current foldable market,” he says.

We will have to see what it can offer in a market where there is more and more competition. We just have to highlight the entry of OPPO with the Find N2 or the Find N2 Flip, the firm commitment of Samsung with its Flip4 and Fold4 or the possible entry of Google with the rumored Pixel Fold, to give a few examples.

It is true that there is still time for its release date, but taking into account that lThe Chinese company has confirmed that the device will be out later this year.it stands to reason that they will reveal a small preview of its features or design in the coming months.

During the roundtable, OnePlus also shared its plan to build a smart ecosystem for the next 3-5 years, to bring its trademark fast and smooth experience to broader categories.

Creating this ecosystem will allow OnePlus to offer a seamless connection between its devices, such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, TVs and other Internet of Things devices.

At the moment we have to wait to see the next steps that the Chinese company takes on its folding device, the first of this category for OnePlus, but the firm assures that it will give more details in the coming months.
