Muguruza prolongs his ordeal in 2022 with a new defeat in Cincinnati

The Spanish-Venezuelan tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza is still denied in this year 2022 after falling in her debut at the Cincinnati tournament, WTA 1,000 category, against the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, last Wimbledon champion, after a second-round match that was resolved in just 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Muguruza does not come out of the hole in this course. In total, there are already 14 defeats in 23 games – he has not passed a second round in the same tournament so far this year – and he offers worrying symptoms on the court, as was the case this Wednesday.

In the second service, Rybakina had already broken the Spanish serve and in the sixth game she hit the nail on the head. That 5-1 was vital to disarm any reaction from Muguruza despite the fact that he returned the ‘break’ immediately afterwards. She was very far from getting a slice and the Kazakh, number 25 in the world, closed the set without problems.

It was then that the match went crazy with three consecutive losses, which played down the importance of Muguruza’s lack of concentration, who once again paid dearly for his rival’s success in a set ending that was riddled with errors.

To make matters worse for the Spanish tennis player, Rybakina improved in the decisive moments, stepped on the accelerator to the bottom to win the set and, consequently, the match by a clear 6-3. A triumph that she cites with the American Alison Riske in the round of 16.
