More than twenty soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been injured after colliding the bus in which they were traveling this weekend through Latvian territory.
Early reports suggest that Ukrainian troops were aboard a coach chartered by the Estonian Army when it collided head-on with a truck in northern Latvia on Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle, an Estonian citizen, has died, while there are three seriously injured and 23 others with minor injuries, according to Latvian rescue services.
The Estonian Army, for its part, has confirmed that one of its soldiers is among the wounded. The passengers were Ukrainian soldiers, according to Latvian sources.
No further details of the event have been provided at this time. The Latvian Police has confirmed that its agents have already launched an investigation to find the causes of the accident.
