Tension continues to rise in the Middle East. The cross bombardments sound in the Gaza Strip just one day after the Israeli operation in the occupied West Bank that has left eleven dead and more than 100 wounded. This has been the deadliest raid since 2005.
This Thursday, as reported by the Israeli Army, they have bombed the Gaza Strip after having identified six rockets coming from the coastal enclave.
“A few moments ago, warplanes attacked a weapons manufacturing center belonging to the terrorist organization Hamas, located in the center of the Gaza Strip,” as well as “a military complex in the north of the Strip” belonging to the same organization, an Army spokesman said in a statement.
These bombardments, which according to the Israeli authorities “significantly damaged the capabilities” of Hamas, were carried out in response to the six rockets fired hours earlier from the enclave, and which sounded the anti-aircraft alarms in the Israeli towns of Ashkelon, Sderot and the area. surrounding the Strip.
The crossover of missiles and rockets fired by the Israeli Army and Palestinian armed groups is of concern to both the European Union and the United States.
“The United States is extremely concerned about the levels of violence in Israel, in the West Bank. Today in Nablus, at least ten Palestinians, between militants and civilians, have been killed and more than 100 wounded during an anti-terrorist operation by the Defense Forces. of Israel,” according to Ned Price, spokesman for the US State Department.
“We wish a speedy recovery to the injured and our hearts go out to the families of the innocent bystanders who were killed,” he added.
For its part, the European Union has asked “all parties (to act) for a return to calm and a de-escalation of tension.”
Most of the victims in the Palestinian city of Nablus have been buried in massive funerals that took place on Thursday. The official objective of the operation was to arrest several suspects involved in attacks against Israelis.
