Microsoft’s Annual Hackathon Hosts a New Trophy Achievement System for Xbox

A group of Microsoft developers and designers have created a new achievement system under the name ‘Achievements 3.0’during the company annual hackathon, which rewards users for playing and completing certain objectives by awarding them trophies, similar to the system PlayStation uses.

This project has been one of the more than 10,000 inventions who competed in the annual eventMicrosoft Hackathon 2022′, that has taken place during this month of November and in which more than 68,000 employees have participated all over the world.

Specific, ‘Achievements 3.0’ seeks to improve the system that currently exists in Xbox, the Gamerscore. However, with this new approach, instead of rewarding based on the bonuses that are achieved in the games, players are rewarded with trophies that are earned depending on the rarity of the achievement earnedas explained by sources close to Windows Central.

Also, in addition to the milestones achieved by playing video games, also themes related to goals outside of the games themselves, but across the entire Xbox system, are rewarded. For example, an achievement would be completing a certain number of titles included in the Xbox Game Pass subscription.

However, it is a project framed in the Hackathon event contest, which seeks to enhance the creativity of developers and designers and invent new potential products and services for the Microsoft system, so it is not likely that ‘Achievements 3.0’ will end up being released for real.

On the other hand, among the thousands of proposals and inventions presented at this year’s Hackathon, the winning project was an idea that helps provide technical support to loved ones.

This idea is based on the common sentiment of Microsoft employees who, by their own admission, take on an inevitable role of helping those closest to them with technology issues. For this reason, this group of Microsoft developers has devised a safe and simple way to give remote assistance for family members.

His project is based on help loved ones diagnose problems and explain how they can be fixed. For example, with questions such as software updates, configuration settings or how to remove malware.

Likewise, this idea also seeks fix frustrating situations such as encountering error messages or functions not performing correctlywhich can hurt keeping in touch with friends and family given the abundance of social apps used on mobile phones and PCs today, Microsoft has explained.
