The leader of the far-right Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, Giorgia Meloni, winner of the elections held on Sunday, has defended this Wednesday her good relationship with the secretary general of the League, Matteo Salvini, and has accused the Italian press of lying and misrepresent their words.

“I find it quite surreal that a certain press invents my quotation marks from scratch, publishing completely arbitrary reconstructions,” he said in a message posted on Twitter.

This is how he referred to the publications that point to a bad relationship between the two and that assure that Meloni would have said of him that “they do not like him because he is close to Russia.”

In addition, the Italian newspapers spoke of a “veto” by the politician to the former Minister of the Interior of the country and predict that “there will be no key ministries for him.”

“Calm down: the united center-right has won the elections and is ready to govern. Enough lies,” said Meloni.
