Map of the Russian invasion of Ukraine: Bakhmut resists and Ukraine attacks Crimea

The neighbors of Crimea have woken up this Tuesday with explosions in Dzhankoi, in the north of the peninsula, where the attack of Ukrainian drones has destroyed Russian cruise missiles destined for the Russian Black Sea fleet. This comes two days after Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the region on the ninth anniversary of his accession to Russia.

“An explosion in the temporarily occupied northern Crimean town of Dzhankoi destroyed Russian Kalibr-KN cruise missiles while they were being transported by train,” the ministry’s main intelligence directorate said in social media posts.

Ukrainian forces have repelled Russian attempts to push into the center of Bakhmut, the epicenter of the fierce fighting in the war of attrition between Moscow and kyiv.

The battle for Bakhmut has become one of the bloodiest of Russia’s nearly 13-month war in Ukraine.

“Enemy raiding parties are trying to advance from the outskirts to the city center, but our defense forces are working and destroying them 24/7,” wrote Oleksandr Syrskyi, commander of the Ukrainian ground forces, in the Telegram messaging application.

On the other hand, Ukraine has attacked on Tuesday a drone attack against an oil pumping station in a region bordering Russia, without causing casualties, said the governor of Bryansk.

“Ukrainian armed forces used a drone to attack the territory of the Novozibkov oil pumping station, belonging to Transneft. There are no victims to regret,” Alexander Bogomaz, head of this region that borders northern Ukraine, published on Telegram.
