Hip-hop bosses have been debating a new list of the greatest rappers of all time for weeks. Jay Z In the N. #1, but now little wayne He enters the chat… and says that he is the goat
Weezy said during an appearance last week. jane loweyes apple music Podcast show, no title bulletin boardThe 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time, which dropped on February 8, is out now…and to LW’s surprise, it’s at #7.
he is in the store big, Eminem, tupac, nas, kendrick lamar and Jay-Z, respectively, before him, but Wayne doesn’t agree with all of them, especially the ones still living. He’s direct, he’s number 1…and even pollsters dare to ask guys higher up how they feel about it. From his point of view, he thinks they’ll agree… Wayne is bigger than them.
Unusually, it’s all subjective… and it’s unclear what kind of criteria Billboard follows when considering someone better than another. From the looks of it, they seem to consider Jay the top dog due to overall success, which he has certainly achieved.
But if you check Twitter…it seems like a lot of people agree that Wayne is better than Jay-Z, in terms of rapping ability and cultural influence, which is really how you measure these things. . The truth is that Weezy is still breathing fire in 2023 (see New DMX junction) … while one could argue that Jay really isn’t rapping like he’s on top.
Also, their numbers are comparable… Wayne has 3 #1 hits (Billboard Hot 100) and Jay has 4 #1s of his own. However, Wayne historically has 25 of his songs in the top 10, while Jay only has 22. So, song for song… they’re close.
Even in number of albums, they’re about even, Jay’s 14 #1s to Wayne’s 9 (Billboard 200).
We think this question is really in the eye of the beholder, but it can be honestly answered with a simple question: in your heart, whose music do you actually hear at the festival? And, really, who has the most memorable talents overall?
Each one with his own, but between these two… who do you have? Let us know!
