Iran replies to the EU with sanctions against the media and MEPs, including Zarzalejos and Tertsch

The Government of Iran has fulfilled its threat and approved new sanctions against the EU, a blacklist that includes European media and also MEPs, including the Spanish Javier Zarzalejos, from the PP, and Hermann Tertsch, from VOX.

Tehran has already warned that it would respond reciprocally if the Twenty-seven approved punishments for the death of the young Mahsa Amini, who died after being arrested for breaking the Islamic dress code.

The Foreign Ministry, which has said to act against people and entities that support violence and encourage riots, has urged the EU and the governments of the Member States on Wednesday not to interfere in issues that would be internal

The list includes companies and also several media outlets, including the Persian-language subsidiaries of Germany’s Deutsche Welle and France’s RFI, as well as those responsible for the newspaper ‘Bild’, according to official Iranian media, which also point to French politicians and Germans.

In the associative sphere, Tehran includes the International Committee for Justice (ISJ, for its acronym in English) and its president, the Spanish Alejo Vidal Quadras, while charging against the group of MEPs that make up the Friends of a Free Iran, led by Zarzalejos.

The measure implies the confiscation of all the assets that these people and entities may have under Iranian sovereignty, as well as travel bans, as the Government has recalled in its note.
