Delaney Hales (“Holby City,” “Two Close”) will replace actress Bailey Bass as young vampire Claudia in the second season of AMC’s critically acclaimed “Interview with a Vampire.”
Hales will join series regulars Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac. The second season, which begins production next week in Prague, stars Sam Reed as Lestat de Lioncourt, Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy, Asad Zaman as Armand and Ben Daniels as Santiago.
Filming will move to Paris and New Orleans. The eight-episode second season will adapt the back half of Anne Rice’s iconic 1976 novel, though Lewis and Claudia will switch eras when they arrive in Eastern Europe in the midst of World War II.
The new season features plot changes in line with the last few books in Rhys’s The Vampire Chronicles series. In an announcement late Friday, the network said:
Bailey Bass is a talented actor who did a remarkable job bringing the character of Claudia to life in Anne Rice’s ‘Interview with the Vampire’. For various reasons, Delaney Hales will appear as Claudia in season two. We are grateful for Bailey’s unforgettable performance in the first season and we wish him the best.
Bass issued his own statement:
“Playing Claudia has been a dream role and an incredible journey. Best of luck to Delaney in taking over. I can not wait to see it. A big thank you to AMC, the producers, Jacob, Sam, the crew, and the amazing fans.
Bass plays Syreya in James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” and will reprise her role in future installments of the franchise.
